You are the Vice-President of Manufacturing for a company which manufactures small personal appliances. Your R & D department has designed a revolutionary,
new type of electric toothbrush which cleans and polishes teeth at the same time. Your company has applied for a patent to protect the design. But your company
has never actually manufactured electric toothbrushes. You have always outsourced the manufacture of toothbrushes to several suppliers with whom you have long
standing relationships. You must decide whether to make the brushes in-house or to contract the brush manufacture to an outside supplier. If you manufacture
the brushes in-house you must purchase specialized equipment (assets) and hire additional highly-trained specialists to manufacture the brushes because it
requires unique skills and talent. As V.P. of Manufacturing, you must do an analysis of the options you have and present it to the Executive Board.

a) Would you recommend to the Executive Committee to make this product in house or to buy (outsource)?

b) Why would you make this recommendation? Explain what the advantages and disadvantages would be of making vs. buying in this particular situation.

————————————–“?

3. You are the Director of International Development for a company that supplies technology to law enforcement agencies in the detection of crime. You have
developed markets in a few English speaking countries, such as Great Britain and Australia, but are now ready to expand into other markets. Your technology is
cutting edge and is not readily available in many other markets. You have a few competitors but their technologies are slightly different. Although your
company is known to be a leader in these specific types of technologies, your competitors are catching up.

a) What factors would you take into account and what recommendations would you make to determine which market or markets you would enter next and the timing
and scale of your entry.

b) Based on the type of business in which your company is engaged, which entry mode or modes would you identify as being most appropriate? Explain why you
would choose this type of entry mode or modes. Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of the entry mode(s) you chose.

4. You are the Vice-President for International Development of a small U.S. pharmaceutical company (located in Emeryville, California) which specializes in the
development of new medical vaccines using unique biotechnological know-how. Until now, the company has only achieved small successes in limited markets.
Recently, however, the company developed a vaccine to protect humans against the MERS virus. According to the World Health Organization, this virus has already
been identified in Europe and the Arabian peninsula, two areas where the need for a vaccine is urgent and immediate. The virus is not yet a major problem in
South America, North America or Asia. The company has limited manufacturing capability; if the MERS virus reaches epidemic proportions in Europe and the
Arabian peninsula, it will not have the capability to supply large enough quantities to meet demand. The company wants to determine the best way it should
supply the markets where the virus is currently a problem and which entry mode or modes it should use. The possibilities are:

a) Manufacture the product at home and export to the European markets and the Arabian peninsula b) License the formula out to a company already established in
each of these two regions c) Enter into a strategic alliance with a large pharmaceutical company and establish a 50/50 joint venture company which would
manufacture and market the product in these two regions) d) Establish wholly owned subsidiaries in the afflicted areas e) another alternative you might
identify. As the Vice-President, you must make some strategic decisions:

a) Which entry mode or modes (entry strategy/strategies) would you follow in Europe and the Arabian peninsula?

b) Why would you choose this strategy or strategies instead of the other alternatives? Explain what the advantages are of the entry more or modes you are
recommending and what the disadvantages of the other modes are.

c) What entry mode would you use in those regions where MERS is not yet a major threat and demand is not as urgent (South America, North America, Asia)? Why
would you recommend this entry mode or modes?

Discussion Posts (APA guidelines)

Be sure to use APA format when citing your sources (including the text) when making your Discussion posts. This applies to both short
quotations and paraphrasing.

Short Quotations

If you are directly quoting from a work, you will need to include the author, year of publication, and the page number for the reference
(preceded by “p.”). Introduce the quotation with a signal phrase that includes the author’s last name followed by the date of publication in
parentheses.

According to Jones (1998), “Students often had difficulty using APA style, especially when it was their first time” (p. 199).

Jones (1998) found “students often had difficulty using APA style” (p. 199); what implications does this have for teachers?

If the author is not named in a signal phrase, place the author’s last name, the year of publication, and the page number in parentheses after
the quotation.

She stated, “Students often had difficulty using APA style” (Jones, 1998, p. 199), but she did not offer an explanation as to why.

Summary or Paraphrase

If you are paraphrasing an idea from another work but not directly quoting it, you only have to make reference to the author and year of
publication in your in-text reference.

According to Jones (1998), APA style is a difficult citation format for first-time learners.

APA style is a difficult citation format for first-time learners (Jones, 1998).

For more information, see Doc Sharing for additional APA information and guidelines.

Unit 6 Challenge Problem Template
Here i = r
2. Why are cash flows that are connected to common stock difficult to estimate? How does this compare to those related to bonds.
1. Fasco Industries just paid a dividend of D0 = $1.45. Analysts expect the company’s dividend to grow by 28% this year, by 11% in Year 2, and at a constant rate of 6% in Year 3
and thereafter. The required return on this low-risk stock is 11.00%. What is the best estimate of the stock’s current market value?
Cash flows connected to common stock are difficult to estimate because you will always have to make assumptions
about the growth rate of the earnings meanwhile, bond cash flows are set at time of issue (at Face Value times the coupon rate).
Caterina Vazquez
P0(price today) = 1.85/1.11^1 + 2.05/1.11^2 + 43.40/1.11^2 = $38.55

Question 1 [ 30 points] The YUMM cereal company distributes Colored Sugar Cereal. Each box is supposed to contain 450 grams of cereal. They also sell cereal in a “2-pack,” where each “2-pack” contains 2 boxes of cereal. The 2-packs are supposed to have a total weight of 900 grams. YUMM can choose µ , the actual mean amount of cereal to put in each of the boxes, but their filling process has some inaccuracies. Regardless of the value of µ that they select (typically between 450 grams and 500 grams), the amount of cereal placed in the box by their filling process is Normally distributed with mean µ and standard deviation 10 grams. (The mean µ is the same for all of the boxes.) Since each box is poured by the same machine that has been calibrated to the chosen value of µ , the correlation between the weights of any two boxes is CORR=0.63 . a) [10 points] Suppose that YUMM selects µ = 470 grams. What is the probability that a single box is under the 450 grams that the box is supposed to weigh? b) [10 points] At what value should YUMM set µ so that the probability is 0.95 that the weight in a single box is at least 450 grams? c) [10 points] Suppose that µ = 460 grams. What is the probability that the total weight of a “2-pack” is less than 900 grams?

(7 points) What are the major factors that have affected U.S. household consumption since the recession in 2001?

(7 points) By how much will GDP change if firms increase their investment by $8 billion and the MPC is .80? If the MPC is .67?

(10 points) Suppose that private sector spending is highly sensitive to a change in interest rate. Compare the effectiveness of monetary and fiscal policy in terms of rising and lowering real GDP

(7 points) If the equilibrium real wage remains constant, what happens to the nominal wage when the actual inflation rate exceeds the expected inflation rate?

(10 points) Use the concepts of gross and net investment to distinguish between an economy that has a rising stock of capital and one that has a falling stock of capital. “In 1933 net private domestic investment was minus $6 billion. This means that in that particular year the economy produced no capital goods at all.” Do you agree? Why or why not? Explain: “Though net investment can be positive, negative, or zero, it is quite impossible for gross investment to be less than zero.”

(10 points) Assume that a hypothetical economy with an MPC of .8 is experiencing severe recession. By how much would government spending have to increase to shift the aggregate demand curve rightward by $25 billion? How large a tax cut would be needed to achieve this same increase in aggregate demand? Why the difference? Determine one possible combination of government spending increases and tax decreases that would accomplish this same goal.

(7 points) What are government’s fiscal policy options for ending severe demand-pull inflation? Use the aggregate demand-aggregate supply model to show the impact of these policies on the price level. Which of these fiscal policy options do you think might be favored by a person who wants to preserve the size of government? A person who thinks the public sector is too large?

(10 points) Explain why relatively flat as opposite…

Overview
The course project requires you to create a quality management plan. To do this, you will:
Identify various aspects of a quality management plan in a healthcare organization.

Apply various processes and tools to enhance quality in a healthcare setting.

Identify workflow processes in a healthcare setting.

Identify quality parameters in a healthcare setting.

Examine effectiveness of a quality management plan in a given healthcare setting.

The project is modeled on the Shewhart Cycle (Plan, Do, Check, Act). You will modify the Shewhart Cycle to make it applicable to the specific healthcare service or program you select.
You should seek additional resources that help to understand the process being studied, as well as planning and quality improvement in general. For example, Simmonds and Leonard (2004) describe six steps in Conducting a Patient Safety Project. While you don’t need to use the six steps in sequence, they provide direction, as noted below:
Assess the environment: This step describes the importance of understanding the culture of an organization.

Prioritize the work.

Understand the problem: This step relates to root cause analysis.

Map the clinical process: This step is about issues to consider when diagramming the clinical or workflow process.

Identify the key people.

Implement change: This step is about issues to consider when implementing the Do phase. (pp. 189–201)

Task 1
You will complete a part of the Plan step of the cycle.
Describe the environment, the organization, and the department or program within the organization that is the basis for your project. Describe the selected healthcare setting, specifically, service, staff, equipment, and patients.
Assess the environment using SWOT (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, threats) analysis. You should interview some stakeholders such as managers, staff, or customers. Use the interview information to conduct the SWOT. You may also summarize or quote any…

MATH133-1302A-01 College Algebra
Assignment Name: Unit 4 Discussion Board
Deliverable Length:
Details:

The Discussion Board (DB) is part of the core of online learning. Classroom discussion in an online environment requires the active participation of students and the instructor to create robust interaction and dialogue. Every student is expected to create an original response to the open-ended DB question as well as engage in dialogue by responding to posts created by others throughout the week. At the end of each unit, DB participation will be assessed based on both level of engagement and the quality of the contribution to the discussion.

At a minimum, each student will be expected to post an original and thoughtful response to the DB question and contribute to the weekly dialogue by responding to at least two other posts from students. The first contribution must be posted before midnight (Central Time) on Wednesday of each week. Two additional responses are required after Wednesday of each week. Students are highly encouraged to engage on the Discussion Board early and often, as that is the primary way the university tracks class attendance and participation.

The purpose of the Discussion Board is to allow students to learn through sharing ideas and experiences as they relate to course content and the DB question. Because it is not possible to engage in two-way dialogue after a conversation has ended, no posts to the DB will be accepted after the end of each unit.

Two companies start up at the same time. Company A claims their annual profits follow a linear model, P(x)=10x-7 where x is the number of units sold and x 1 . Company B claims that their annual profits follow a radical model, P(x)=15 (x – 1)+3, where x is the number of units sold and x 1. It is your job to investigate the validity of each claim.

1. Choose five values for x to plug into the linear function, P(x)=10x-7 and create a table of values.

2. Use the same five x values to plug into the radical function, P(x)=15 (x – 1)+3 and create a table of values.

3. Using the table of values from parts 1 and 2 graph both functions. Upload the graph as an attachment to your post, or paste it directly into the DB using the paste as html feature or picture feature of the toolbar.

4. Using the graphs from part 3 compare the profits of each company and evaluate their claims. Which model seems more realistic, the linear or radical model, and why?

In your own words, please post a response to the Discussion Board and comment on other postings. You will be graded on the quality of your postings.

For assistance with your assignment, please use your text, Web resources, and all course materials.

Charlie’s Pizza orders all of its pepperoni, olives, anchovies, and mozzarella cheese to be shipped directly from Italy. An American
distributor stops by every five weeks to take orders. Because the orders are shipped directly from Italy, they take four weeks to arrive.

Charlie’s Pizza uses an average of 130 pounds of pepperoni each week, with a standard deviation of 16 pounds. Charlie’s prides itself on
offering only the best-quality ingredients and a high level of service, so it wants to ensure a 98 percent probability of not stocking out on
pepperoni.

Assume that the sales representative just walked in the door and there are currently 460 pounds of pepperoni in the walk-in cooler. How many
pounds of pepperoni would you order? (Round your answer to the nearest whole number.)
