For the final assignment of this course, you will write a research paper on change in a human resource development (HRD) organization that you work for, or would like to work for.

Within your research paper, explain how the following tasks can be accomplished at your chosen organization using competency or case

Each year on or around June 15, communities and municipalities around the world plan activities and programs to recognize World Elder Abuse Awareness Day, a day set aside to spread awareness of the abuse of the elderly (Center of Excellence on Elder Abuse & Neglect, 2013). The abuse of older adults is a growing concern and statistics suggest that the number of elders experiencing abuse is an alarmingly high number. Research suggests that close to half the people diagnosed with dementia experience some form of abuse (Cooper, C., Selwood, A., Blanchard, M., Walker, Z., Blizard, R., & Livingston, G., 2009; Wiglesworth, A., Mosqueda, L., Mulnard, R., Liao, S., Gibbs, L., & Fitzgerald, W., 2010, as cited on http://www.ncea.aoa.gov/Library/Data/index.aspx). Elder abuse takes on many forms and can include physical, emotional, psychological, and economic abuse. The legendary American actor, Mickey Rooney, spoke to the United States Senate, describing his own experiences of pain and neglect at the hands of his stepson, asking legislators to take seriously the abuse of the elderly.

For this Discussion, find a scholarly article that presents some of the most salient psychosocial issues related to elder abuse.

Post a summary of the article you found. How does the article reinforce the importance of assessing potential abuse and neglect when working with the elderly? Demonstration of Understanding of Unit 3 concepts

The topics covered in Unit 3 examine the effects that drugs can have on multiple body systems. These effects can happen whether one uses macronutrients, minerals, herbals, poisons, additive drugs, antibacterial, or antiviral drugs. This project is in the form of a PowerPoint Presentation or Research Paper using correct APA format. Address the following questions related to two agents from the classes listed above.

1. Provide a background/introduction of the agents.

2. Discuss the role of the agents in medicine. With poisons, discuss the severity of the poison and the effectiveness of the antidote. With drugs of abuse discuss the severity of the abuse potential and methods for addressing abuse.

3. What is (are) the intended use, intended response, or impact on the applicable body systems?

4. Briefly discuss how the use of poisons and addictive drugs differ from the use of antibacterial and antiviral agents.

5. Provide a conclusion that provides a take home message about each class.

Discussion 2: The Impact of Social Media and Technology

Twenty-first century middle school students are intellectually and socially different from any generation that has come before them. The advent of texting, social networking, and social media, and the ease at which they can navigate the Internet has connected these learners to their friends and mass media 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. While there is no doubt that social media has inadvertently caused many adolescents to become computer savvy and technologically adept, how might it strengthen or weaken the bonds of adolescent friendships? When parents and adolescents are “friends” online, does it help parents to get a better sense of who their adolescents are, or does it cause bickering and opportunities for further rebellion? How might social media confirm or refute gender stereotypes? How might it serve as a channel for bullying?

For this Discussion, review this week’s media, “Perspectives: The Adolescent World.” Then, consider the overall impacts that social media and technology have on the development and decision making of adolescents.

Post by Day 4 an explanation of the potential impacts social media and technology may have on adolescent development. Include developmental, environmental, and social influences.
