f(n) = 15(1.04)n

Part A: When the scientist concluded his study, the height of the plant was approximately 20.53 cm. What is a reasonable domain to plot the growth function? (4 points)

The price of products may increase due to inflation and decrease due to depreciation. Derek is studying the change in the price of two products, A and B, over time.

The price f(x), in dollars, of product A after x years is represented by the function below:

f(x) = 0.69(1.03)x

Part A: Is the price of product A increasing or decreasing and by what percentage per year? Justify your answer. (5 points)

Part B: The table below shows the price f(t), in dollars, of product B after t years:

t (number of years) 1 2 3 4
f(t) (price in dollars) 10,100 10,201 10,303.01 10,406.04

Fiber-optic cables are used widely to increase the speed and accuracy of data transmission. When light passes through a fiber-optic cable, its intensity decreases with the increase in the length of the cable. If 1700 lumens of light enters the cable, the intensity of light decreases by 1.9% per meter of the cable.

Part A: Can this situation be represented by a linear function? Justify your answer. (2 points)

Part B: Write a function f(x) to represent the intensity of light, in lumens, when it has passed through x meters of the cable. (4 points)

Part C: Some scientists are trying to make a cable for which the intensity of light would decrease by 2 lumens per unit length of the cable. Can this situation be represented by a linear function? Justify your answer and write the appropriate function to represent this situation if 1700 lumens of light enter the cable. (4 points)

Education was a priority for the founding fathers. Dr. Benjamin Rush, unlike his peers, was an advocate for education that included both females and blacks. He founded one of the first female academies in the United States, the Young Ladies Academy of Philadelphia. Although he was a believer in women being educated, his reasoning for the importance of education was that it would make women more subservient to men.

In a one- to two-page APA-formatted paper, refer to your text and then “take a stand.” You will either defend Rush’s position for creating the curriculum he implemented (a few of the subjects taught: general knowledge of bookkeeping, vocal music and dance, and moral philosophy) or discredit his stance and explain how women would be better off without this bias and/or unfair education. List at least three reasons to support your opinion.

Suggested Resource:

Your finished paper must include a title page and a reference page formatted in APA 6th-edition style. It should include a minimum of one source in addition to your textbook and should not exceed two pages (not including title and reference pages)

University of London scientists have invented a new technology that can identify cancer cells to measure the amount of sugar consumed by MRI. The technology can and simpler than the current standard radiation safety technology, Recombinant human Allograft inflammatory factor 1 http://www.cusabio.com/protein-Recombinant_Protein-1030948/ can make a better record details of the tumor. The study was recently published in the journal Nature Medicine.

This new technique is called “glucose chemical exchange saturation transfer” (glucose chemical exchange saturation transfer, glucoCEST), the technology is based on the cancer cells than in normal tissue cells consume more glucose to sustain growth of this fact.

Scientists MRI scans for cancer in mice and found that the cancer cells so that the cells to absorb glucose brighter.

The first author of the study, Dr. Simon Walker-Samuel, University of London, said, GlucoCEST able frequencies using specific markers of glucose, the technology requires only conventional glucose injection, but now commonly used technique is the injection of radioactive material, so that the technology cheaper and more safety.

Corresponding author of the study, said Professor Mark Lythgoe, MRI technology in many large hospitals is a conventional imaging techniques, our research shows that the use of MRI can detect cancer. In the near future, the patient is expected to be diagnosed at a local hospital, and not have to go to specialist medical centers.

Another Corresponding author of the study, Professor, University of London, said Golay Xavier, our interdisciplinary research also shows such as pregnant women and children and other vulnerable patients can perform this inspection, no radiation danger. Dr. Walker-Samuel added, we have developed one of the most advanced imaging technology to locate the tumor region, enabling us to more effective cancer treatment

Regulation encompasses insurance plans, cost, research, safety, all in the name of delivering quality care in a cost effective manner. These agencies are responsible for monitoring compliance and enforcing legislative mandates. However, the debate continues on government regulation and its effect on ensuring quality care. After completing this week’s reading, review the following articles listed below, which were published 11 years apart. Analyze the cost-quality paradigm noted in the articles. Considering the many governmental mandates and regulations to reduce costs and ensure the delivery of quality care that have been implemented over the years, discuss your opinion regarding why costs have continued to rise without improving quality.
