For this week’s assignment, you will write a 1-2 page essay about the history of gangs in America. Be sure to address all prompts and cite your sources in APA format. This is worth 60 points, so be thorough and give your best effort.
By the end of the twentieth century, gangs had proliferated in nearly all geographical areas of the United States; they can be found in suburbs, in small cities, and on Native-American reservations. As of today, gang membership continues to grow, and street gangs will remain a major problem in American society for some time to come (Delaney, 2013).
In a 1-2 page paper, please respond to the following: ◦Explain the history of gangs in America. ◦Be sure that you include the correlation of old and new world rivals, the rise of law enforcement, politics, fire brigades, and the civil war period.
Be sure to cite using APA guidelines. For citation guidelines, please refer to the Tools & Resources section of the course.
As you learned this week, socioeconomic conditions cause many people to join gangs, but there are other reasons as well. Gang members report an adrenaline “rush” from gangbanging activities. This particular type of adrenaline addiction cannot be easily satisfied by engaging in activities outside gangs. Thus, the “rush factor” is potentially a major contributing factor that leads an individual to choose to join a gang (Delaney, 2013). ◦Compare and contrast the traditional socioeconomic factors that lead youths joining a gang. ◦Be sure to give specific examples from the text. ◦To receive full credit, include an explanation of these factors in relation to Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs.
Week 3 Assignment 1 – Submit Here Instructors, training on how to grade is within the Instructor Center.
Assignment 1: Company Description and SWOT Analysis
Due Week 3 and worth 100 points
In this assignment, you will conduct a SWOT (Strength, Weakness, Opportunity, and Threat) analysis for the type of beverage you have selected, and for your company overall. As you work on the assignment, consider why you have chosen one type of non-alcoholic beverage over another and the reasons for that choice. As you complete your SWOT analysis, be sure to include external factors such as industry / market trends and competition, and internal factors such as your capabilities or abilities to reach certain market segments.
Write a three to five (3-5) page paper, in which you:
Create your revised NAB company name and explain its significance. Develop your revised company’s Mission Statement and provide a rationale for its components. Hints: Use the Statement of Mission template on pp. 72-73 on the course textbook: Successful Business Plan to aid your development. Click here for help accessing a specific page number in your eBook. Extracting appropriate information from the NAB company portfolio, where applicable. You should fill in other required items in the template using your personal preferences. Describe the trends in the non-alcoholic beverage industry, especially the specific type of beverage category you have chosen. Justify at least three (3) reasons why you have chosen this type of non-alcoholic beverage. Hints: Research and outline beverage industry trends. Consider the size and growth rate of the industry overall and the specific beverage type you have chosen. Use the worksheet in the course text (p. 88 | Past and Future Growth of Your Industry) to help you project the future growth rate. Consider the use of industry associations and search engines to find reliable, recent data. Choose one (1) strategic position from the course text (pp. 142–143) that you believe is the best strategic position for your company. Explain the approach you will use to implement this strategic position in order to distinguish your beverage from other non-alcoholic beverages. Provide an overview of your company’s distribution channels. Explain the manner in which your product will reach end users. Provide a rationale for your chosen method. Hints: For example, will you sell your beverage in grocery stores, restaurants, or sports venues? If so, describe the types of resellers and distributors who will sell to resellers and fulfill their orders. If you are attempting to sell direct-to-consumers, such as online via a monthly subscription, how will you manage warehousing / fulfillment / shipping? Outline at least three (3) types of risks (including any regulatory risks) that your business faces. Describe your company’s plan to mitigate such risk. Hints: You may refer to the types of risk listed in the course text (pp. 148–149) as well as any risks not listed in the text. Regulation weighs more heavily on beverage and food businesses than many other types of companies, so be certain to consider any regulatory risks your type of beverage faces. For example, what kind of regulation and / or risks are you likely to face if you make health claims about your beverage? Develop a SWOT analysis for your NAB company using the SWOT matrix worksheet in the course text (p. 153 | SWOT: Strengths / Weaknesses / Opportunities / Threats) Hints: What are your company’s likely strengths? Have you chosen a beverage segment that is growing and lacks an entrenched competitor? Are you in a niche market that has great potential? What are the strengths that you and other team members bring to your company? Do you or other team members have previous experience in the food and beverage industry? Hints: What are your company’s likely weaknesses? Is the competition in your industry segment entrenched? Is your own management team inexperienced? Will it be challenging to actually produce your product and maintain quality? Hints: What are your company’s opportunities? Does your segment have more demand than supply? Have larger corporations stopped serving smaller or niche markets that you could enter? Is a new market emerging because of demographics, immigration, changing tastes? Hints: What are your company’s threats? Is there a clear market leader that will be hard and expensive to displace? Are downward-pricing pressures in the segment making profit margins slim? Are there little or no barriers-to-entry for new competitors; if you have a novel idea that succeeds, can the competition easily enter your market? If you have a global aspect to your company, do factors such as currency fluctuations, political instability, offshoring or outsourcing pose threats? Format your assignment according to these formatting requirements: Be typed, double spaced, using Times New Roman font (size 12), with one-inch margins on all sides; references must follow APA or school-specific format. Check with your professor for any additional instructions. Include a cover page containing the title of the assignment, the student’s name, the professor’s name, the course title, and the date. The cover page and the reference page are not included in the required page length. Cite the resources you have used to complete the exercise. Note: There is no minimum requirement for the number of resources used in the exercise. The specific course learning outcomes associated with this assignment are:

Different ways exist to look into process design. The types of process involved, service or product, dictated the use of this processes. We will use beer to represent product process design and micro-finance service to depict the service process design.
Under product sector, there exist four types of approaches to the process design; these are continuous flow, job shop, batch and assembly line. Under continuous flow, the movement of materials within this process is continuous. Assembly line is similar to the continuous flow but rather than just being continuous, it goes through various stages where operations are assigned to each stage. Batch involves splitting the process into smaller parts. Operations for a particular part are done on all the batches before proceeding of the process. Job shop process requires the handling, to full completion, of all the tasks involved. Job shop process is not suitable for beer production as it applies to products with a high degree of variability, which in this case are mostly tailor made.
Assembly line and continuous flow are a good choice for a products requiring high production volume which batch approach is not an efficient approach. Assembly line approach involves complex procedures and requires a lock in in a particular stage before commencement of the successor stage. Therefore, continuous flow is the best suited process that offers high efficiency in beer production and is relatively simple
Under the service sector, there are three approaches to the process design. These are self-service, production line and personal attention. Under self-service, consumers are included in the service generation process to maximize efficiency. This approach is conspicuous in the software production industry where aim for an efficient product and speedy outcome is the goal. In the production line approach, the company controls every aspect of production to ensure quality of the service offered. This approach is mostly used in organizations that require fast outcome but at the same time quality services and products an example being music recording studio. Lastly, the personal attention approach mainly gives focus to enhancing and maintaining good relationships with customers. The approach is wide spread in organizations that require good customer loyalty coupled with satisfaction an example being the telecommunication industry. Micro-finance services will definitely go for personal attention and production line as the best option to maximize efficiency and productivity. This combination is one that’s most suitable for micro-finance institutions. Production line is suited for the head office and organization of branch offices as well and how they will run. Personal attention would be applicable when interacting with customers to ensure satisfaction as well as having robust systems like ATMs and online financial services that meet the needs of consumers at a personal level.
Upon examination of the greatest threats to a computerized accounting system, suggest two (2) preventive measures or remedies that protect the system and/or mitigate any negative impacts to the system. Provide a rationale for your response.

Chapter 5 is an extremely important chapter. Nonverbal communication speaks volumes about an individual whether they know it or not. When you speak about nonverbal communication within an interview session, it could be the difference between getting a job or not. Most of the time when we hear the term nonverbal communication, we generally think negatively about how an individual sits in a chair, uses facial expressions and body language that denotes non-positive impressions, and we know what they say about impressions, “You can only have one first impression”. If you are in an interviewing scenario, you certainly do not want to leave a lasting negative impression.
Nonverbal communication can also be positive. As one says “putting your best foot forward” will make for a positive reaction. To do that, one must acquire nonverbal communication skills. For example, you are in the thick of your interview, all seems to be going well, when just then, you are asked a question that you have no idea how to answer. Your interviewers, if you are not careful will be able to detect you have no idea how to answer. How do they know this? By your facial expression, or your body language, like squirming in your chair, or rolling your hands on the table. Being in complete control throughout the interview is difficult, but manageable. Staying calm and consistent in your interview will help you through difficult times. On the other hand, one must guard against being to arrogant in the manner in which they respond to questions. Yes, panels are looking for decisive leaders, but being decisive and not being arrogant is the key.
Good nonverbal communication skills would include: good eye contact with interviewers, non distracting hand movements, an erect position while sitting, and using your personality when the time is right. An example of this would be to smile occasionally, laugh when the interviewers laugh. Using good nonverbal communication will be your best asset outside of good answers to questions.
Take a look at Appendix # 8 Scenario Questions, read set C, to get a feel for how the questions are. Now ask some one to act as an interviewer and ask you either SET A or SET B of the questions. It will be very important that you not read these sets first as they no longer will be impromptu type questions. Ask the person asking the questions to try and watch your nonverbal communication skills and write them do as they see them, they can share with you after the questioning. It is important that you take the interview serious, as this activity can teach you much about yourself. As far as the correct responses are concerned, that could be another way for you to discuss leadership decision making by asking your administrators how they might respond. In any case you are sure to gain much.
Resources 1 In most weeks you will see Resources, this is not an assignment that you must complete. This resourse will enhance the course and give you exercises and experiences that will help prepare you to enter school administration.

The Principal has decided to drop the attempts to assist the teacher due to his/her frustration of not getting the teacher dismissed. You feel that it is the students that are suffering most. How do you handle this sticky situation?
You have a teacher at your school that writes over 150+ discipline referrals a year. A lot of the referrals are a result of the teacher antagonizing students and bulling students into reacting in a negative manner. How will you deal with this situation?
