Each student is required to submit a five- to seven-page essay (APA format, one inch margins, Times New Roman, 12 point font, double-spaced) detailing their choice of major. Drawing on the discussion and research in, the essay should include your reasons for choosing the particular major as well as the role it plays in your longer-term career goals and vision of success.

The essay should be well written as a first-person narrative and share the following information (Refer to grading rubric for additional details):

·      A summary of your chosen major/concentration/minor/emphasis/track and what it entails (field, education, job) and why this major appeals to you both personally and professionally.

·      A reflection and self-assessment of your strengths and weaknesses and how the results of your completed assessments (MBTI, DiSC, Holland Codes, Strengths, etc.) factor into career/entry level industry.

·      An understanding of the professional benefits of your chosen concentration including your realistic assessment of your goals and what you hope to accomplish with the knowledge and skills acquired during your course of study.
