Task: Investigate how employees are hired and compensated in a community health center (private or federally funded). You will need this information to help you decide how you will recruit, retain and staff your center.

PART B – Lesson 4 (2 pages Only)
Activity 1: Identify the issues in the case study surrounding recruiting and staffing, and analyze why they are problems.

Activity 2: Identify the issues in the case study surrounding HR policies and practices and analyze why they are problems.

Activity 3: Project Assignment

Decide on how you will recruit, retain, and motivate your staff. Describe who the staff will be. How many staff you will need to adequately provide effective, safe, and efficient culturally competent care. Design a staffing plan.

Then decide on a set of HR policies for staff both professional and support. This will include compensation. You will need to do some research on what the average compensation package is in your area by specialty of staff. Consider salaries, health/dental plans, breaks, vacation time, uniforms, sick leave, parking fees, memberships in professional organizations, licensure fees, medical insurance, and technology (hardware and access). You may or may not choose to provide these but explain why or why not.
